Meet Bryson
“Bryson’s dimples are what we call “lady killer dimples” and he has all the nurses wrapped around his fingers because of them,” says his mom. It’s easy to see why! 5 year old Bryson was diagnosed with brain cancer last February. Here, his mom, Janna shares more about Bryson and how his diagnosis has affected their family of four:
“He is definitely a strong force to be reckoned with and has been a fighting warrior since day 1 one, February 15th, 2021, when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I’ve been told that Bryson has handled 5 cycles of chemo better then most.

When Bryson is home he enjoys playing video games with his older brother and best friend, Kayden (10). He loves riding his scooter, going to the park, going on family trips to the beach and watching movies. His current favorite movies and shows are Hocus Pocus, Luca, Lady and the tramp, Paw Patrol and The Mandalorian. His favorite toys are acton figures, stuffed animals, cars and trucks. His absolute favorite stuffed animal is his Roo from Winnie the Poo. He won’t go anywhere or do anything without it!

He hasn’t had much of an appetite since starting chemo and doesn’t eat at all when he is in patient but we are at the  finish line and get to go home soon after 5 cycles of chemotherapy. But his favorite food is “panty food” (bins of random snacks he likes to choose from in the pantry at home.) He also loves chicken nuggets, apples, oranges, watermelon, strawberries, pizza rolls, carrots, sour cream and onion pringles and popcorn, just to name a few.”

At times, Janna says, the challenges have been overwhelming, trying to stay afloat financially while spending a month at a time in the hospital and  make time for their older son, Kayden. Janna’s advice to newly diagnosed families?
“Stick together through thick and thin. Don’t give up and always fight for the care you want for your child especially when you feel like the medical team isn’t right.”
