Margie volunteering at the Candlelighters office
Volunteer Spotlight: Margie
Margie has been a dedicated volunteer with Candlelighters since 2017! Over the years, she has supported the Candlelighters team in countless ways such as office organization, filing, and data entry, and has also been an active presence at events such as Candy Cane Lane and Family Day. Additionally, Margie has participated in the Bedside Buddy program and served as a member on the scholarship committee. Margie loves her role as a volunteer because her support helps to make a difficult time a little easier for the families Candlelighters serve.
Margie’s connection to Candlelighters is deeply personal. As a member of a Candlelighters family, she witnessed the impact of childhood cancer firsthand when her grandson, Sawyer, underwent treatment. Through that experience, and Sawyer’s time as one of our Ride For a Child Honored Children in 2018, she saw how cancer affected her entire family–especially Sawyer’s older brothers. It is Candlelighters’ dedication to supporting not only the served child, but their family as well, that she values most.
“I love helping make it a bit easier for all family members as they navigate childhood cancer.”
