Welcome Nicole Ek as our Programs Coordinator!
This friendly and familiar face now joins Candlelighters staff in an “official” capacity. Nicole’s involvement in Candlelighters predates the current staff by years. Nicole is mom to Emme, one of our Luminaries members-turned-leaders. She and Emme joined Candlelighters when Emme was diagnosed with cancer in 2009. Nicole’s journey, from a served family to volunteer and now a staff member who supports other families is what our community of hope is all about!
You might recognize Emme from the Luminaries, or a video she and other Luminaries created to encourage and inform others during COVID. The pair also volunteered at Candy Cane Lane and numerous other Family Activities. In addition to their love for each other, Nicole and Emme love crafting, and if you’ve ever attended Family Camp, they are regular fixtures at the craft table, often creating something sparkly, glittery and pink! These two bring smiles and positive attitudes with them wherever they go.. Learn more about Nicole’s role of Programs Coordinator here.
We help families with childhood cancer connect.
Candlelighters families are part of a close-knit community where, together, they put aside challenges and connect with other families who get it. As a result, many make lifelong friends built on countless hours of camaraderie.
Candlelighters offers family activities throughout our chapters, across Oregon and SW Washington, at no cost to families.
