Dear Candlelighters families,
As summer transitions into fall, we know that September brings the excitement of a new school year and classroom for many children. We also recognize that some children may not be able to return to a classroom yet, and this can be a difficult time. We understand, and we invite you to lean into our programs for support and community.
September is also Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about pediatric cancer. Here at Candlelighters, we are “going gold” for all children: those currently fighting cancer, those who have endured it in the past, and those who may face it in the future. As Candlelighters, we hold our candles for you all and support you on your journey. Speaking of support, many of you will recognize new Candlelighters Board Member, Dr. Linda Stork, whose care and expertise are invaluable to planning the future of support for our community.
There are several opportunities for community and support during August and September, including the Luminaries Swim Event, Thursday Night Motocross Family Night, Bereaved Families Picnic, Siblings Club, events in Mid-Willamette Valley, and – coming soon – a chance to win tickets to a Thorns game! I look forward to seeing you all!
